Looking Towards the Future
Elie's vision with the help of many people in the South Lake Tahoe community has transformed Ski Run Marina over the last few years.The village, the car park and the marina have all been updated and redesigned. The courtyard has been opened up with a new southern entrance. The retail spaces have been remodeled and in some cases had windows and second entrances from the main parking lot added. The courtyard bathrooms have been completely upgraded with a mountain theme. The parking redesign which will increase parking and unify the lots is in process and this exciting new addition will be completed in 2012. Patrons can now park free for up to an hour at Ski Run Marina. Elie and his team have worked closely with the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency to make Ski Run Marina more green and environmentally friendly. The harbor walls have been reinforced with steel and 4500 cubic yards of mud has been removed from the harbor itself. The grounds themselves have had unsafe walk bridges removed and been replaced with a wide handicap accessible bridge. There is now solar path lighting, abundant seating, sculptures and attractive landscaping.
This new development has attracted several new tenants to the village. Ski Run Marina is now the center of Lake Tahoe's Art community. Several of Lake Tahoe's most famous artists now have live studios at Ski Run Marina. In addition to this, the Ski Run Marina Art Festival runs from late June to Mid August and the village is full of visiting artists, music and activities for kids. Ski Run Boat Company has completely updated its boats and Jet Skis in order to provide excellent boating and parasailing experience. The Riva Grill has modernized its menu, updated its lounge and now has the best wedding reception and large party rooms on the lake. Tahoe Sport Fishing has added several new boats with the latest fish finding technologies to the fleet. There are 2 other large Festivals now located at Ski Run marina. "Man's Best Friend" runs through October and Winter Fest runs through February. These festivals are celebrations of Lake Tahoe life and fit neatly into the new Ski Run Marina.
The future for the Ski Run Marina community is very promising. The remodeling, the new tenants and the month long festivals are attracting visitors and interest from new retailers daily. The South Lake Tahoe community are coming back to the Marina in large numbers and will continue to become more involved with the Marina in coming years. Modern internet marketing and social media integration of Ski Run Marina and its associated tenants will continue to increase the visitors to this jewel on the shores of Lake Tahoe for many years to come.
